Rules: Market Rabbits

RABBIT DIVISION

 

1. This division is subject to the General Rules and Regulations and these Division rules.

2. All entries must be made by time specified on Important Dates & Deadlines accompanied by the correct entry fee and signed by the appropriate County Extension Agent or Vo-Ag teacher. (See General Rules for late and incomplete entries.) Entry fees are:

Meat Pen: $20.00 per pen. NO LATE ENTRIES FOR MARKET RABBITS.

Breeding Rabbits: $2.50 early, $4.00 late, $1.00 substitutions.

3. ARBA rules will govern the judging. The judge’s decision will be final.

4. NO ONE is allowed behind the judging table except the Rabbit Committee. Please do not lean, prop, or otherwise hang on the judging table.

5. Each exhibitor may enter only one pen.

6. All rabbits entered in this division must be the bonafide property of the exhibitor.

8. ALL RABBITS MUST BE PERMANENTLY TATTOOED IN THE LEFT EAR PRIOR TO THE SHOW. EAR TATTOO NUMBERS MUST BE LEGIBLE AND MATCH THOSE LISTED ON THE ORIGINAL RABBIT ENTRY FORM OR ENTIRE PEN (for Market Division) OR RABBIT (for Breeding Division) WILL BE SIFTED.

9. Any rabbit showing signs of illness will be sifted and not allowed on the judging table. Animals sifted for reasons of illness need to be removed from the judging area immediately.

10. Each Exhibitor or pre-approved substitute must be present for judging and be able to place their rabbits on the table. NO adults will be allowed to place rabbits on the judging table – this is a YOUTH SHOW.

11. There will be no cash awards presented.

12. ETHICS RULE: Each exhibitor, his or her parent(s) and/or guardian(s) agrees to abide by the General and Special Rules published in the current year’s Livestock Catalog and/or amendments available at Tag-In. Any violation of these rules or any exhibitor and/or parent(s) guardian(s) found to have participated in unethical practice – i.e. (1) approaching buyers for the purpose of asking to exchange, return or purchase any sale item(s), (2) the showing of any animal that has been administered any unapproved/unlabeled medication – will forfeit all privileges, awards, premiums won and will be barred from exhibiting at further Cleveland Livestock Shows.

ADDITIONAL MARKET RABBIT RULES

1. Market Rabbit Division is open to all active members of 4-H, FFA and Jr. FFA that attend or live in Liberty County School Districts from breeding date till Show Time, excluding those 4-H and FFA members living in the Dayton Independent School District, as per General Rules and Regulations.

2. This division is subject to the General Rules and Regulations and these division rules.

3. Entries MUST include ALL three tattoo numbers of pen to be exhibited.

4. Entry fees are $20.00 per pen of three (3). NO LATE ENTRIES.

5. ARBA rules will govern the judging. The judge’s decision will be final.

6. Each exhibitor may enter only one meat pen.

7. The exhibitor must have owned all rabbits entered in this division since they were kindled. Furthermore, the doe that kindled each entry must have been the bonafide property of the exhibitor at the time the rabbits were kindled. The exhibitor on the exhibitor’s property as per General Rules must care for all meat pens.

8. Meat pen rabbits shall consist of three rabbits, either sex, not over 70 days old. Each rabbit should weight a minimum of three (3) pounds and not to exceed five (5) pounds. All rabbits in a pen shall be of the same breed and color. No crossbreeds will be shown.

9. Meat pen rabbits will be weighed upon entry. Tattoos must match original entry or pen will be disqualified. One sifted rabbit will disqualify the entire pen. NO substitutions will be allowed once pen of three (3) rabbits is presented for weigh-in.

10. There will be ribbons presented to the first ten places.

11. Holding pens will be provided for the Sale pens ONLY. Exhibitor is responsible for providing feed pans and waterers. Exhibitor is responsible for feeding and watering these animals the ENTIRE TIME they are on the grounds.

12. The number of pens sold will be 50% of number exhibited at show time or a maximum of ten (10) pens will be sold at the Youth Auction. The top pens of rabbits – 50% or the maximum (10) sale pens and two (2) alternates – will be held on the grounds for the Youth Auction.

13. Sale pens of rabbits will be delivered to the Buyer per his/her instructions.
