1.
This division is subject to the general rules and regulations
and to these division rules.

Any purebred or crossbred heifers are eligible to enter this
division.
3.
Official weigh-in will be at time specified on Schedule of
Important Dates and Deadlines at Stancil Park.
The weight of a calf on this date cannot exceed 800 pounds nor be less
than 400 pounds. Calves will have one
opportunity to go across the official scales (at tag-in and weight-in at show);
if animal does not make the weight it may be (at exhibitor’s request) backed
off scales, scales will be re-balanced and animal will be re-weighed
immediately. No weight tolerance will
be allowed.

Heifer entries must be paid at time of initial weigh-in. The entry fee $20.00 per heifer.

The heifer must have tag in both ears when she comes to the
show. If the animal losses one tag, the
exhibitor must contact the Commercial Heifer Chairman immediately. If the heifer losses both ear tags, it will
not be eligible to show. (In other
words, if a heifer looses an ear tag, exhibitors must contact the
above-mentioned person to get tag replaced before the second tag is lost).

All heifers is the division must have been weaned by initial
weigh-in date
7.
Heifer Check-In: Heifers must weigh in on scales at Stancil
Park and be tied in place at time specified on Schedule of Events. Commercial Heifers must be dehorned before
weigh-in at show.
8.
Each exhibitor will be allowed to weigh-in any number of
heifers at time of tag-in but will be allowed to show only one at the
show. No substitutions will be allowed
after the animal has been weighed.
9.
The entries in this division will be judged as replacement
heifers and should be fed and fitted accordingly.
10. Each exhibitor must be able to show his/her heifer unassisted. For the safety of all exhibitors, ANY heifer DEEMED UNRULY BY THE heifer JUDGE MAY BE removed from the SHOW ARENA at the discretion of the judge. Any ANIMAL removed from the show arena will not QUALIFY FOR THE YOUTH AUCTION. Heifers will be shown at halter, and proper showing paraphernalia is encouraged. All ethical techniques of proper grooming and fitting heifers for show will be permitted.
11. The
heifers will be judged together in one class, but the Commercial Heifer
Committee reserves the right to divide the class if deemed necessary. Heifers will be placed one through the
number in the class.
12. The
top fifteen placing heifers in this division will be allowed to sell in the
Youth Auction and will be delivered to the Buyer as per their
instructions. Grand and Reserve Champions must sell through the Youth Auction on
Friday night.
13. The
showmanship contest will be held immediately after the selection of the Grand
and Reserve Champion Heifer and placing of the sale order. There will be two age groups: Seniors –
exhibitors 14 years of age and older and Juniors – exhibitors under 14 years of
age. Contestants will be grouped
according to their age on the day of the show.
Any Commercial Heifer exhibitor may enter this showmanship contest. Exhibitors must own the animal they show in
this contest.
14. Exhibitors
who qualify for the sale will be expected to be in the show arena with their
heifers at time specified on Schedule of Events for the purpose of back tagging
and arranging in sale order. Exhibitors
not present with their heifer when the sale order is called will be scratched
from the sale.
15. Heifers
entered in the Commercial Heifer Division may be double entered in the Breeding
Beef Division. A separate entry fee and
entry form must be submitted for each division. Heifers that qualify for and participate in the auction sale will
not be eligible to show in the Breeding Beef division Entry fees are not
refundable. PENALTY FOR BREAKING THIS RULE IS FORFEITURE OF ALL SALE PREMIUMS,
BANNERS, RIBBONS,AND PRIZES WON.
16. All
heifers must be vaccinated for Brucellosis before show check-in time. For optimum protection, heifers should be
vaccinated between 4 months and one year of age.
17. “For
Sale” signs will not be permitted in the livestock barns for projects during
the show.
18.
Exhibitor/parent/guardian
found to alter the weight of an animal on the scales during a weigh-in will
cause the animal to be disqualified.
19. ETHICS RULE: Each exhibitor, his or her
parent(s) and/or guardian(s) agrees to abide by the General and Special rules
published in the current years Livestock Catalog and/or amendments available at
Tag-In. Any violation of these rules or
any exhibitor and/or parent(s) guardian(s) found to have participated in
unethical practice (i.e. (1) approaching buyers for the purpose of asking to
exchange, return or purchase any sale item(s), (2) the showing of any animal that has been administered any
unapproved/unlabeled medication) with forfeit all privileges, awards, premiums
won and will be barred from exhibiting at further Cleveland Livestock Show
& Dairy Day.
20. ALL HEIFERS WILL BE NOSE PRINTED
