1. This division is subject to the general rules and
regulations and to these division rules.
2. This division is open to any breed or crossbreed wether
or nanny goat. Goats must be wethered
before official tag-in.
3. Exhibitors will be allowed to tag-in an unlimited number
of goats, but only show one goat.
4. An entry fee of $20.00 per exhibitor will be charged per
goat. There must be at least one goat
entered per exhibitor named in a family unit (example: if three goats are
entered in the family unit there can be no more than three exhibitor names on
the entry card). Exhibitor will
designate at time of weigh-in in April which animal he or she will
exhibit. No substitutions will be
allowed after the animal has been weighed.
5. Market goats must have both ear tags when it comes to
show. If the goat loses one tag, the
exhibitor must contact the Market Goat Chairman immediately. If the goat loses both ear tags, it will not
be eligible to show. (In other words,
if a goat loses a tag, exhibitors must contact the above mentioned person to
get the tag replaced before the second tag is lost.)
6. The market goat must not weigh less than 60 pounds at the
weigh-in when it comes to the show.
Goats will have one opportunity to go across the official scales. If animal does not make the weight, it may
be (at exhibitor’s request) backed off the scales; scales will be re-balanced,
and animal will be re-weighed immediately.
No weight tolerance will be allowed.
7. It is recommended that all market goats should be slick
shorn above the hock and knee joints, excluding the switch, before being
presented for weighing at the show.
8. According to State and Federal Scrapie Requirements: All nanny’s must have a Premise
Identification ear tag in place before they come back to the show in April.
9. Goats must be dehorned or their horns must be tipped at
time of show.
10. All goats must be carrying their milk teeth at the time
of tag-in. Goats showing either, or
both, of the first pair of permanent incisors will not be allowed to enter.
11. Nanny goats that exhibit signs of pregnancy at show will
be disqualified. The show judge or the
Market Goat Committee may determine pregnancy.
12. Each exhibitor must be able to show his or her goat
unassisted. Collars are suggested
during judging or the showmanship contest.
13. All goats will be shown in one class unless deemed
necessary by Market Goat Committee to divide into more than one class. If determined by the committee, classes will
be divided with approximately the same number of animals in each class.
14. Fifteen percent (15%) of the number of animals
weighed-in at show or ten (10) animals will be sold in the Youth Auction.
15. All market goat exhibitors who had animals in the
auction must be outside of the west end of the rodeo pens at specified time on
the Schedule of Events on Saturday to load their animals.
16. Exhibitor/parent/guardian found to alter the weight
of an animal on the scales during weigh-in will cause the animal to be
disqualified.
17. ETHICS RULE:
Each exhibitor, his or her parent(s) and/or guardian(s) agrees to abide
by the General and Special Rules published in the current year’s Livestock
Catalog and/or amendments available at Tag-In.
Any violation of these rules or any exhibitor and/or parent(s)
guardian(s) found to have participated in unethical practice – i.e. (1)
approaching buyers for the purpose of asking to exchange, return or purchase
any sale item(s), (2) the showing of any animal that has been administered any
unapproved/unlabeled medication – will forfeit all privileges, awards, premiums
won and will be barred from exhibiting at further Cleveland Livestock Shows.
