6. The Division of sale items (Home Economics,
Market Steers, Commercial Heifers, Market Swine, Market Broilers, Market
Rabbits, Market Goats and Market Lambs) are open to all active LIBERTY COUNTY 4-H members,
Jr. FFA, and FFA Members that attend a Liberty County School District
(Tarkington ISD, Cleveland ISD, Hardin ISD, Liberty ISD, Hull-Daisetta ISD or
accredited home school program and live in one of these school districts) FROM
TAG-IN TILL SHOW TIME, excluding those 4-H and FFA members attending the
Dayton Independent School District. No exhibitor will be allowed to show more
than one entry in each sale division. ( For Home Economics, refer to Rule #12
of that division).
7. All exhibitors
must be currently enrolled in elementary or secondary public or private state
accredited schools in order to participate in any division in the Cleveland
Livestock Show. To be eligible to
participate in the Livestock Show, an exhibitor must be in compliance with
their school’s current policies concerning participation in extracurricular or
other activities.
8. All entries in
the Breeding Beef, Breeding Swine, Dairy Cattle and Market Rabbit Division must
be made by specified time on Schedule of Important Dates and Deadlines, and be
accompanied by $20.00 entry fee.
Breeding Rabbit entries will be $2.50 per breeding rabbit and must be
made by specified time on Schedule of Important Dates and Deadlines. The appropriate County Extension Agent or
Agriculture Science Teacher must sign all Breeding entries. Entries not received by entry deadline will
be returned to exhibitor. Late entries
will be accepted on the DAY OF SHOW ONLY (exception: MARKET RABBIT DIVISION
will not have late entries). Mail
entries to Cleveland Livestock Show, P.O. Box 697, Cleveland, Texas 77328.
9. All entry forms
for the Livestock Show not filled out properly will be returned to exhibitor or
supervisor.
10. No entry fee will be returned.
11. No stall space will be utilized for displays,
paraphernalia, etc. unless otherwise designated by the Arena Director.
12. Cleveland Livestock Show will not be liable for any
damages, injuries, fire, theft, accident, or equipment being left unattended on
the grounds or in the parking facilities.
13. All animals and birds must be in place at show at times
designated in the Schedule of Events in the catalog and must remain at the show
until released by the chairman at the designated time.
14. Exhibitors agree to permit their livestock to be used in
the Livestock Judging contests.
15. All Market Steers, Commercial Heifers and Breeding Beef
will be stalled together by organization or club. Scramble Calves will be stalled together and all Dairy Cattle
will be stalled together. Dairy Cattle
may be bedded on hay. A trophy will be
presented for the Best Beef Stall (including market and breeding beef); plaques
will be awarded to second and third places.
16. No individual except those persons that have been
designated by the show management can remain on the show grounds after 12:30
a.m., each day.
17. All cattle must be tied at the tie racks or in specified areas for feeding, watering, and grooming. Cattle may not be tied around the swine building or pens, barbecue stand, around the outside of livestock barns, anywhere inside the fence around the rodeo arena, or along the outside of that same fence. No livestock will be fed, housed, penned or kept in the exhibitor parking lot, cemetery or the cemetery parking lot. No vehicles or trailers will be parked in the cemetery or on any of the cemetery roadways.
18. All livestock entries must be bonafide property of the
exhibitor at the beginning of and throughout the feeding period. The entries must also be fed and cared for
by exhibitor.
19. Exhibitors must show their own livestock, rabbits, and
poultry during the regular judging events, during the showmanship contests, and
the Auction. Any request for a
substitution of exhibitors must be submitted to the Show President two (2)
weeks in advance of the show. Approval
for substitution of exhibitors will be left to the discretion of the Hardship
Committee. Substitution of exhibitors will not be allowed if the owner of the
animal cannot be excused from his/her class because of failing grades or
excessive absences.
20. The Executive Committee of the Cleveland Livestock Show
reserves the right to approve a committee that will have the authority to visit
any 4-H and FFA project that is entered in the show.
21. Any exhibitor who violates any of the rules governing
the Cleveland Livestock Show may be disqualified.
22. All market division animals (Market Steers,
Commercial Heifers, Market Swine, Market Broilers, Market
Rabbits, Market Goats and Market Lambs) must be owned
and cared for by the exhibitor at the exhibitor’s home
place and must be under the supervision of their
Agriculture Science Teacher or 4-H Adult Leader. Any
exhibitor who needs to be granted an exception for this
rule must submit a written request to Show President and
Hardship Committee by October 1st for large animals
and by December 1st for Small Animals. The exhibitor,
parent or guardian, and Agriculture Science Teacher or
4-H Adult Leader must sign the request. Approval of
such requests will be left to the discretion of the show
management. A full description of the hardship must
be written along with directions to the exhibitor's
home and the proposed off premise location. The
exhibitor and the owner of the land for the off premise
location must agree to a visit by show management/hardship
member prior to granting the request and at any time
should the request be granted.
23. By entering his/her market division projects, the
exhibitor and all parties concerned grant permission for the project to be
visited during the feeding period at location where animal is being fed and/or
raised. All market division entries can
be visited at least once during the feeding period. If entry is found being raised off premise, and the Livestock
Show did not grant permission, then the exhibitor cannot show that entry.
24. In all judging events and showmanship contests, the
decision of the judge is final.
25. A Sportsmanship Award will be presented to an
outstanding 4-H or FFA member during the show.
A committee will make the selection.
26. Each 4-H Club and FFA Chapter in Liberty County that
exhibits beef cattle will be expected to be on dump truck duty from Wednesday
through Saturday during the week of the show.
27. Should an exhibitor/parent/guardian be found to have
altered the weight of an animal on the scales during weigh-in at show, the
animal will be disqualified.
28. Any interpretation of these rules or questions of
eligibility will be directed to the Cleveland Livestock Show, %President of
Show, P.O. Box 697, Cleveland, Texas 77328.
29. Substitution of exhibitor will ONLY be allowed for
school related activities.
30. ETHICS RULE:
Each exhibitor, his or her parent(s) and/or guardian(s) agrees to abide
by the General and Special Rules published in the current year’s Livestock
Catalog and/or amendments available at Tag-In.
Any violation of these rules or any exhibitor and/or parent(s)
guardians(s) found to have participated in unethical practice – i.e. (1)
approaching buyers for the purpose of asking to exchange, return, or purchase
any sale item(s), (2) the showing of any animal that has been administered any
unapproved/unlabeled medication – will forfeit all privileges, awards, premiums
won, and will be barred from exhibiting at further Cleveland Livestock Shows.
THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE WHOLESALE MEAT
ACT applies to the sale of market livestock or poultry sold
during the Cleveland Livestock Show as follows:
a. Animals and
poultry must be in good health and carcasses free of drug or chemical residues.
b. Antibiotics and Sulfonamides have required withdrawal
periods.
c. Drug label directions for use and withdrawal periods must
be followed.
d. If drug or other chemical residues are found in tissues
of carcasses, the entire carcass may be condemned.
If drugs or other chemical residues are found in tissues of
carcasses of animals or poultry sold through sale or sales connected with the
Cleveland Livestock Show, said Show will in no way be liable or responsible for
condition of carcass or sale price of animal.
Owner of animal forfeits all rights to the sale price and
will be held liable if residue is found in carcass tissue. If Inspectors, because of infections of any
kind, must remove any part of a carcass, sale price will be discounted
accordingly.
