Rules: Agricultural Mechanics


Ag Mechanics

1. This division is subject to the general rules and regulations and to these division rules.

2. Entries are OPEN to FFA Chapters and 4-H Clubs.

3. Projects must have been group constructed and entered under FFA Chapter or 4-H Group’s name. Projects must have been constructed in the current school year.

4. Projects entered must have been constructed by FFA or 4-H members as a part of their agriculture mechanics instruction, and the building of these projects supervised by their instructor(s) or 4-H adult leader(s).

5. Each eligible FFA Chapter or 4-H Group may enter project in the Trailer Division and All Other Agricultural Mechanics Division. Entries must be submitted to the General Livestock Chairman by specified time on Schedule of Important Dates and Deadlines.

6. Projects will be classified into two divisions – Trailer, and All Other Agricultural Mechanics Division. There will be two classes in the All Other Agricultural Mechanics Division.

A. Metal – Any project constructed of a metal frame and not entered in the Trailer Division.

B. Wood – Any project constructed of a wood frame and not entered in the Trailer Division.

7. The show committee will determine the divisions and classes that projects will be entered in.

8. A bill of materials and a set of plans are required with each project and must be with project at the show.

9. The Danish System will be used in judging the projects:

Workmanship.................................30 Points

Design and Materials Used..............20

Practicality.....................................20

Degree of Difficulty..........................10

Finish............................................10

Plans and Pictures.........................10

TOTAL POSSIBLE SCORE............100

10. Projects receiving 90-100 points will receive a blue ribbon. Projects receiving 80-89 points will receive a red ribbon. Projects receiving 70-79 points will receive a white ribbon.

11. Every precaution will be taken to protect the projects entered; however, neither the Cleveland Livestock Show nor the officials of this show will be responsible for any losses or damages to projects.

12. All projects may have “For Sale” signs on them during the show.
